For the last several months we have standard- ized on three double-sided disks’ worth. Because single-sided disks were once our standard format, each of the three new disks carries two numbers (this situation will soon change). For example, in November we offered copies of three disks that were numbered AMUG 259+260, 261+262, and 263+264.. It follows, then, that December’s disks will be numbered AMUG 265+266, 267+268, and 269+270. To get copies of this new software, simply bring at least three double-sided disks to the meeting. The disks should be labeled clearly with your name, and the numbers of the disks you would like. We would also appreciate it if you formatted your disks, as this speeds up -- part contents for card part 2 ----- text ----- copying considerably. If you are using “used” disks, it is not necessary to erase them first. Each disk contains a self-running directory program that tells you a little about each item on that disk. Pay particular attention to those items that are intended to be run only with commercial programs. For example, we sometimes give out Excel templates, MacDraw pictures, Microsoft Word files, etc. These files can only be used if you own these programs and have them on your system when you open the file. Otherwise you will get the “Application for this File is Missing” message when you try to start them up. Besides the new disks, we also make copies of “back issues” available. You can get up to six disks’ worth of older software at each meeting.
